Led by Captain Mike Follman, a licensed Master Captain and full time Chain O’ Lakes local, every lesson and tour is designed with safety, confidence, and enjoyment in mind. Below are answers to some of the most common questions about our boating instruction and luxury corporate boat tours.
Completely fine, actually, it’s a great place to start. Captain Mike has worked with all skill levels and specializes in building confidence from the ground up. If you are born on or after January 1, 1998 a boaters safety course is required by the state of Illinois and needs to be completed first.
Yes, instruction is conducted exclusively aboard your own vessel. This ensures you learn the handling characteristics of the boat you’ll actually be operating.
You’d be surprised how common this is! Lessons are designed to help couples operate as a smooth, coordinated team. Less stress, more fun.

Itineraries are fully customizable. Popular stops include dockside restaurants, ice cream at Reta’s or Dairy Queen, and scenic anchoring spots. We’ll build the right day for your group.

Absolutely. The boat is equipped with a cooler and ice, and guests are welcome to bring their own beverages and snacks. NO GLASS CONTAINERS ALLOWED

The vessel accommodates up to 6 guests.

If the weather makes conditions unsafe, we’ll reschedule. Your safety, and your enjoyment, always comes first.
Corporate tours can depart from our public departure point at Buddyz in McHenry, or from your private dock on the Chain O’ Lakes.
